well, I've only lived in portland for about 8 months now and have not spent too much time (yet) in seattle so I'm not sure how qualified I am to give advice... however, I looove portland and would hate to see you leave it off your intinerary! especially since it's so close to seattle... but I know how traveling can be, the planning, the costs involved, etc. if you decide to hit portland, please let me know! I will do my best to pass along my favorite spots!

p.s. I love the head vases. I have a small collection of my own (some that I inherited from a grandmother and a great aunt, some I bought at the fleamarket). they sit in the kitchen and I call them my girls. :)

First of all, I love the head vases. Very kitschy cool. I love Sia, too and feel very fortunate to have seen her in a small venue shortly after 'Colour the Small One' came out.

Third, the Northwest in September is usually a sight to behold. Our summers don't get going until July and usually linger into early fall so your timing is perfect on that front. I love Portland but Seattle is my home and where I was born so I'm definitely partial. It's funny--I'd say Portland is the mini-version of Seattle while San Francisco makes me realize how cosmopolitan a city can feel. They're like descending versions of each other.
