I absolutely love collecting old photography books from charity shops and boot fairs. There are a glorious abundance of these manuals around, complete with cheesy seventies portraits and extra, extra flare. Although much of the data is now very outdated when you mainly use digital, you can still get so much out of them.
I've been watching the amazing series on BBC - "The Genius of Photography" and recommend it to anyone who truly has a passion for the medium. I love seeing other photographers in action and learning about the different methods and practices they employ to make their images. The work of a guy named Paolo Ventura caught my eye - he used to do mainly fashion photography and now his only models are teeny-tiny ones. See some of his work here.
